Great Stories are written by Guiding Ohio Online AmeriCorps Members about their service.
I’ve met quite a few people in my year and a half in the AmeriCorps program. One of my favorite people is a local music teacher. She called in one day asking for help on her new iPad. We set up a standing appointment for every week. The first day she walked in we started to setup her iTunes account and unlike most people of just pressing “I Agree”. She took the iPad home, read the entire agreement and came back with questions.
Her goal was to use the iPad with her students during their lessons. She also plays the organ at a local church. She was nervous that she wasn’t making enough progress. I ended up going to her house and setting up her wireless printer. The next week she came in and said “I had so much to do this morning, getting my music together for our service this weekend. But what was going to take me an hour took me 15 minutes. I just printed off what I need right from my iPad and it was awesome.”
She recently shared with me that she now feels comfortable enough using the iPad to show her students clips on YouTube of performances the students wish to do. The students are excited to use technology and the music teacher is excited to connect with her students.
